From early in his career through his late-stage compositions, Bob Dylan has wrestled with mortality. His lyrics often contemplate existential questions of death and dying, expressing anxieties that arise through his ruminations. Indeed, his 1966 motorcycle accident and his bout with histoplasmosis pericarditis in 1997 seem to indicate that death has followed and tracked him down throughout his career. In this episode, author, Adam Selzer, discusses his work and Dylan's work with a specific focus on Dylan's treatment of mortality.

Adam Selzer is a tour guide, author, and historian in Chicago and New York. The author of more than 20 books, and a regular talking head on TV, his tours are informative, hilarious, and endlessly fascinating
