Typos in subtitles may be a bit maddening (Terri Thaw?!?!?!), but this is first i-view on topic of Dylan's work & play, also perhaps first book with Greenwich Village milieu (along with the Catskill Mountain life) to bring out the soul that Zimmy drew from. These activist women who together with the Village milieu molded and shaped that moldy molder and shaper of words and phrases and fractured meta-physical snake-oil salesman's tent revivals!

It helps that the sourcing of Allison Rapp and Erin Callahan are all the terrific and vivid along with insightful bios that these women troubadours were so integral themselves in shaping. That could not have been easy giving the amorphous Hibbing, Minnesota and Duluth-bred brat what came to be such a dynamic shape or outline to fill in through his phases of growth and creative development.

Suze Rottolo, whose 2008 auto-bio of her point-of-view on the Village milieu is nearly as vivid as big Dave Van Ronk's own politically engaged rambling POV in his own auto-biography gathered up from decades of Van Ronk's notes and political researches by his dear friend, creative collaborator-confidante and Village neighbor Elijah Wald and Van Ronk's far tighter tether to his romantic partner and bid-net manager (also Dylan's when Zimmy got to NYC and was sleeping on Van Ronk and Terri Thal's roach-run Village apartment walk-up floor):

"Van Ronk was author of a posthumous memoir, The Mayor of MacDougal Street (2005) written with Elijah Wald.[6] Anecdotes from the book were used as a source for the film Inside Llewyn Davis.[26][27]" (Wiki)

The flow and dialogue of these two next generation fastidious muck divers into the fertile Village asphalt bardic soil is first rate and memorable in ways that the songs and sacred scrolls Village Life produced shine like Neroth Tamid\Eternal Flames flickering from the "Unstuck In Time" Cafe Whas of those times that I was lucky to wander through via subway from across Flushing Bay and a Jamaica, Queens broke-down primary through Hebrew Day and high school then freshman year at Queens College yoot before I headed west meself and wound up finishing the formal schooling at U.C.-Berkeley and the equally fertile bardic his\herstoric she\heroic environs of the East Bay area until even the cheapest rents were more than I could earn with or without that valued edjamacation and engaged interests.

The questioning and thoughtful follow-up pursuit of this Odyssean and Jacobean narrative in less than an hour of screen time without any saturation film and news clips in some trite scrap book montage is what makes this some of the best gab I've been privileged to eavesdrop on since that hallowed part of my own well-spent yoot gettin' edjamacated at Big Dave V.'s chair and jug.

Invite Arlo over and reprise the intuitive trail the whole travelling carny bus & trucked through New England and up to Quebec and Ontario for the 2 years of intermittent Rolling Blunder Revues (as Arlo like to call them hazy times of domestic life and raising what was so biblically begat.....)

Health and balance

PS - Before there was a Dunkin' Donuts Venture Capital scheme there were coffee & donut shop Mom & Pops of many ethnic stripes all over Jamaica and Flushing Queens via Main Street or Berkeley to Rockridge to Oakland to Contra Costa County via Shattuck and Telegraph Aves with countertop rows of swiveling stools and the day's newspaper sections sprawled across once clean formica for da bleary eyes of beat cops and gadget gooning pre-schoolers and racing form sketch artists to lean on before any seasonal sun shone on through the fogs of twilight times....

One could see the East Bay part at Brennan's over cafeteria-Irish-fisherfolk-bar-grub down University Ave past San Pablo Ave and the bus turn towards El Cerrito and Down Home Records. Land of Vision and Redemption and Human Humint recycling centers before any such things materialized via tinkers and vacant Alameda County lots with inflationary speculative valuations preventing any cyclical rebirth to neighborhoods like the Jamaica of earlier yoot left to decay and collapse beneath the sagging subway ELevated rusty green to brown patina and acrid metallic odors...............
